So, you have scoured the "net" looking for that "Special Lady". Now you have her email address and you want to start communicating with her. You send her an email and wait for her reply. And wait and wait and wait!! What is wrong? Why isn't she zipping out a reply email to you? You get frustrated and start searching the "chat rooms" looking for someone to talk to. You discover many Filipinas there and start up a conversation with them. Their responses are immediate and inviting! You feel you have found heaven, right? Wrong!
What you may have found is a growing problem on the "net" and a particularly fast growing problem in the Philippines. What is the problem? Filipinas using the "net" to solicit money from foreign men..
Internet access in the Philippines is still a "hit and miss" situation. The larger cities have unlimited access but in the more rural areas, access is hard to find or nonexistent. And privately owned computers are even more scarce. So Internet Cafe's are the main source for them to communicate to you on the "net".
The average cost for Internet access, at an Internet Cafe in the Philippines, is about P50 pesos or $1.00US per hour! The average salary of a Filipina, that even has a job, is about P150 pesos per DAY or $3.00US!! So do the math. For a Filipina to check her email box, then send off an email to you will cost her, at least 1/3 of her days pay!
But this can't be, you say. I chat with Filipinas for hours in the chat rooms all the time!
BEWARE!!
I have sat in the Internet Cafes and watched Filipinas chatting with foreign men for hours myself. But, I must add, I have also seen them chatting with 3 or 4 men at the SAME TIME! All of the men thought THEY were the ONLY person she was chatting with at the time.. I have watched these Filipinas, skillfully, solicit money from each man. I have seen remarks to the man like, "My mother needs an operation." or "I want to continue to chat with you but I can't afford it." I have heard of many more ways to get you to send them money. But remember the main reason they are chatting with you is to get you to send them MONEY! To some it is a game. To others it is their "job". It is an easy way for them to make an income for themselves and their family! $100.00US is a months salary in the Philippines..
When next you decide to chat with a Filipina on the "net" ask yourself these questions:
1. Why is she in this chat room?
2. How can she afford to chat for so long?
3. Has she asked for any money, either directly or INDIRECTLY?
4. Is she very slow in her responses? (she is probably talking to more men then you at the same time)
5. Is she vague about where she lives?
6. When you try and get details about her and her life why is she evasive in her answers?
7. Why do some of her responses to you seem out of context? (She probably forgot who she told what to)
8. Do you even know, for sure, who you are chatting with? (it may be some GUY using the net to make an income)
9. Why won't she send you more pictures of herself when you ask for them?
10. How does she know so much about visa procedures, etc?
If you can not resolve these questions in your mind than BACK OFF as quickly as you can! And most importantly, DO NOT send money to them unless you are absolutely sure it will be used for the purpose it was sent!!
Now that you know about the problem think about this.
Maybe that FIRST Filipina you sent an email to but did not get an immediate response MAY be that "Special Lady" you are really looking for!!
Have patience and be persistent and you WILL find what you are looking for.
My advice:
Don't look for a wife in a "chat room".
Find out all you can about the ladies you communicate with.
Keep cautious.
Don't send money to anyone you don't REALLY know.
(You can send a small amount to cover her Internet costs but that is it)
IF YOU SEE A "RED FLAG" RUN, RUN, RUN AND DON'T LOOK BACK!!

In all honesty I must add here, do not condemn a lady just because she has exhibited one of the above listed traits. Take the "whole picture" in account before you judge her. Her family may be working hard to give her the best chance at finding a "life partner". It is sometimes very hard to determine if a lady is being honest with you or "mining" you for money. But understand there are many honest and sincere ladies out there waiting to meet you. Just be cautious!
